Village Oak – Charm Grey

Village Oak by Preference Floors in Charm Grey is grey oak plank flooring pitched at the useful middle — European Oak with enough grey in it to read cool and contemporary, but enough of the oak’s own warmth left underneath that the floor never turns cold or blue. Light brushing raises the grain so the colour sits unevenly in it, the way weathered timber does, and the matte coating keeps the whole surface low-sheen. Boards are 1900×190mm wide or 2200×220mm extra-wide, 14mm total over a 3mm oak wear layer.

Mid-grey is the tone that lets a room go either way — it is as convincing under white minimalist joinery as it is with oatmeal walls and layered textiles — so it works through open-plan living, bedrooms and hallways in contemporary and coastal homes. It sits particularly well with pale stone benchtops, brushed nickel and cool linens. Direct-stick or floating installation, and compatible with in-slab hydronic heating. A favourite among Adelaide builders and designers.
